I co-burrowed a car with a friend (previously thought i was the co-signer as the car was only for him, recently told I was actually a co-burrower), he didnt make payments on the car for 3-4 months and now have 2 late payments on my otherwise impeccable credit history.
Before all this happened, i had asked him to sell the car or put the car just in his name and he denies my requests and ignored me for months. Now im finding out that he actually lost the car, and also hasnt paid insurance on it for months and he never told me. Can I take him to civil court? What are my options? My credit score fell 100 points in a matter of 1 month and this is destroying my credit, i am working on buying a house and this is making me very frustrated. Any help is greatly appreciated.

What does that mean — he lost the car?
it got stolen. Or he hasnt tried to find it because hes just avoiding even thinking abt it.
can you really believe it was stolen? Your friend is a liar and has used you. It will cost you to sue him and you can’t get blood from a rock so its not worth the suit unless you get a judgment and hope for the best.
He defaulted on loan and insurance so no payment from insurance but loan still needs to be paid. You are co on loan so unless you pay it your credit wil tank and it will be years to get a house.
Is there a pice report for stolen car? Or was it repossessed?
no price report for stolen car, neither was it repossessed. He was suicidal and had left the car in a sketchy part of philly while he was admitted to hospital and says it wasnt there when he came back, I went to the police to see if it had been towed anywhere to a lot and they said no there’s no record of it being towed. I want to file a police report saying it was stolen to try to find it but I’m scared that if that happens in the car company finds out they’re gonna want all their payment right now for the car which is about 11,000$
