I live in rural, farm land, nothing for MILES besides the city of Salem, which is not a great area (lots of crime and just over all falling apart). Well last week we found out someone is planning on selling their land (65+ acres) to a company that wants to Build a mega warehouse there. (rumors are an Amazon) The population of my town, is about 2500 people, we have barely any side walks, there is no police force(taken care of by state police), our fire station is tiny and dated, elementary school is tiny, no postal service (we get our mail at the post office). A state highway, Route 49, runs right through our little town and the amount of dump trucks and cars that have crashed and/or went through houses is RIDICULOUS. Where they are proposing these warehouses go is backed up to protected land. The property is zoned as light industrial. The planning board meeting is next month and we are trying to get our ducks in a row. This will ruin our town, is there anything we can do? Thank you and sorry for rambling!

NAL but the short answer is no. Maybe you can go to the media but I guarantee you that the company will just say they paid a fair price and that a new warehouse will bring jobs and new growth to your town. Look into moving, you can also post this on Reddit for more responses
A lot of spec warehouses are going up. This is my my industry. I get calls all the time for space but I don’t have it.
It’s just not their.
It’s not really a bad thing. It will bring jobs which means more tax dollars.
it is a bad thing for our town. It’s just too small. Roads are a mess as it is and they want to knock down 3 farm houses that were built in 1700s
If the area couldn’t handle it, they wouldn’t allow it. Depending on how far along, this could be 2 years in the future.
I live in a small town and they’re always afraid of this but then complain that everything is a mess and there’s no change.
But I will seriously doubt that it’s Amazon.
