It was someone that stole that woman Facebook and tried to stole yours. It’s definitely not her as you thought. So don’t blame her. And tell her friend to contact her about the incident. And everyone can report to Facebook so they can block that account.

Sounds like she was hacked and It wasn’t your friend at all, probably wasn’t even a female and probably someone from another country…sadly it happens often and it’s happing more and more. They probably wanted to steal any pertinent information you may have on your account…bank info, phone numbers, emails and they steal pictures to create more fake accounts to keep repeating their scams. You should get your mutual friend to contact her to see if she’s aware

So normally what they do is they try and access your Facebook, they will send a password reset and since it’s your account it’s linked to your email. The code in your email is your password reset code. When you give it to them they enter it and change the password on your Facebook taking control. They will then use your Facebook and getting it back is quite hard as Facebook doesn’t have a number you can call for assistance you have to do the automated help and it’s mostly no use. Do not send codes out for anything. They are pretty good and remove your previous email and number and they will use your account to get more account from your friends list.

There’s really no way to figure out who to charge.
This acquaintance of yours was most likely hacked in the same manner as they attempted to do to you.
I had a lady acting like she wanted to buy something from me on FB marketplace. Said she was going to pay using pay pal… But asked me to send her a code that would verify who I am so to make sure I wasn’t a scammer.
It was a code from Google to add another device to my account.
So that was a big fat NO from me.

Stuff like this happens often in social media, I’ve seen where they can hack into other people’s personal information, it’s best to never open those emails, and never reply. If you get emails, texts, etc asking for a code ignore it, unless you personally submitted a request

Nothing you can do. No telling who it actually is, she could of been hacked, just ignore it, delete the email as well. Block her account if you haven’t already

I did. She was communicating with someone but where does it say she knows it’s the actual person that she knows?? Did you NOT read it fully?
